Sing-A-Long Gilbert & Sullivan (1963)

Merry Records MR 008

This disc includes highlights from The Mikado, H.M.S. Pinafore, and The Pirates of Penzance. Bob Lang says that the selections are credibly sung. It was credited to Hudson Productions Inc., however, the artists are not identified.

The recording was made with a minimum of singers. In "I am the Captain of the Pinafore" and "A policeman's lot," the main singer also performs all of the chorus interjections. "Never mind the why and wherefore" is a duet, with the male singing both the Captain and Sir Joseph. I could have sworn that "We sail the ocean blue" was performed by one singer, who recorded his voice three times.

Overall, there is nothing here that has not been sung much better by others.
